Miranda Gavin

Editor, Critic & Blogger

Miranda is a regular contributor to Photofusion Photography Centre (www.photofusion.org) writing monthly photobook reviews, bimonthly theme/opinion pieces and Members' Project reviews. 2015 will be the sixth year that she has been the sole judge for the Hotshoe Photofusion Annual Members' Award. Her writing has included the introduction and a response for Into the Woods (Bob Books) by Ellie Davies, and a response to the work of Jacob Aue Sobol for MONO (Gomma Books), as well as responses to series' of work HEAD/LAND by Wendy Pye, Fungi by Roy Mehta, and The Last Moment by Simon Roberts.

She is interested in all genres of photography. Miranda likes black & white and colour work, old and new, conceptual and traditional. Moreover, she like to see work that is considered, with ideas that are reflective of the image creator's take on the worlds s/he chooses to represent - work developed as a result of emotion and feeling toward a subject, sensitive and expressive approaches. In short work that 'speaks' to her; and that voice may be loud, quiet, gentle or angry.

Miranda can look at work at all stages of process and is open minded and engaged with ideas and creativity. She has wide experience of professional practice and the industry of photography, as well as research and development of ideas.

Miranda might possibily see work in the review that can be published and she will keep in contact with the photographer to watch what they do in the future.
