In Vienna, scouring Leopoldstat for another shot for my 'On Location' project of iconic movie locations.

Casting around the Prater for an angle on the Wiener Riesenrad, one of the memorable settings for Orson Welles' 1949 film, 'The Third Man'.

Research done, negotiations completed, permits obtained, travelled, scouted.

Shooting the Ferris wheel from the ground and from aboard, from the front and from the back, from high and from low.

Walking away into the night, on the way to the airport. Around the corner, hidden from sight, a small revelation. The Ferris wheel rising behind a deserted construction site, away from the action, so reminiscent of the images of war torn Vienna used by Welles as the backdrop for his masterpiece.

Last shot of the day, unexpected, catching the essence from behind the scenes.
